Client: DIGNITY Danish Institute Against Torture
DIGNITY is headquartered in Denmark, but cooperates with partner organizations in about twenty other countries. Founded in 1982 by doctor Inge Genefke. As one of the first, DIGNITY is focusing on the need for specialized treatment for victims of torture, and DIGNITY (or Rehabilitation and research Center for Torture victims, as it was called back then) became one of the first torture rehabilitation centers in the world.

Requirements from DIGNITY Danish Institute Against Torture
Dignity Danish Institute Against Torture contacted us thanks to a recommendation from one of our satisfied clients, in search of 6 professional English and Arabic simultaneous interpreters and simultaneous equipment related to a Working Group on Health MENA Regional Forum for Monitoring of Places of Detention and Prevention of Torture.

Our solution
Our project manager contracted 2 distinguished English and Arabic conference interpreters in Istanbul who specialized in humanities and human rights. In addition, we also arranged simultaneous equipment consisting of a booth, sound system, headphones, table microphones etc. Program and reference documents were sent upfront to the interpreters. A supervisor from ALS was present at the event to make sure everything is running on track.

Achievement

The event was successfully delivered with smooth simultaneous interpretation throughout the sessions. Clear communication between English- and Arabic-speaking participants enabled productive discussions during the forum.

With proper preparation, interpreter coordination, and technical supervision, we supported DIGNITY – Danish Institute Against Torture in facilitating a multilingual international event focused on human rights and detention monitoring.
