Twenty-three years later, we are registered in London, working with LSPs and direct clients across Europe — with Turkish at the core and 40+ languages through a network built project by project, not overnight.

  • Who founded Alafranga Language Solutions? Alafranga Language Solutions was founded by Volkan Güvenç in Istanbul in 2002. The company remains founder-led and owner-operated — strategic direction, quality oversight, and client relationships are managed directly by the founder.

  •  Where is Alafranga based? Alafranga Language Solutions is registered in London as Alafranga Europe Ltd — 71-75 Shelton Street, Covent Garden, London WC2H 9JQ, Company No: 16711244. The company was founded in Istanbul in 2002 and our core team operates across the UK and Turkey.

  • How long has Alafranga been operating? Alafranga Language Solutions has been active since 2002 — over 23 years of operational history in technical, legal, medical, and media translation. We are not a startup or a platform. We are a specialist agency that has been building translation workflows around complex, high-stakes content since the era before neural machine translation existed.

  • Is Alafranga ISO 17100 certified? Yes. Alafranga Language Solutions is certified to ISO 17100:2015 — the international standard for translation service providers. The certification is audited by Bureau Veritas, an independent certification body. This is not self-declared compliance — it is a formal, audited certification reviewed on an ongoing basis.

  • How large is the Alafranga translator network? Our translator network comprises 2,000+ vetted specialists across Turkish, German, French, Italian, Arabic, Greek, Polish, Romanian, Dutch, and further languages. Every linguist has been assessed through real work — subject-matter expertise, CAT tool proficiency, terminology handling, and delivery performance — tracked and maintained by our project managers, not by an algorithm.

  • What industries does Alafranga specialise in? We focus on sectors where terminology precision and accuracy are non-negotiable — industrial and manufacturing, energy and power systems, automotive, legal and compliance, medical and life sciences, software and technology, and media and entertainment. Clients include ExxonMobil, Rolls-Royce, Daikin, Zeiss, OpenAI, Disney+, and Fox TV.

  • Do you work with other translation agencies as a subcontractor? Yes. More than half of our Turkish translation work comes from other LSPs and translation agencies. We work as a white-label partner — inside your tools, under your brand, invisible to your end client. ISO 17100 certified, MemoQ and SDL Trados native, NDA as standard.

Our adherence to industry standards is validated by our accreditation with the London-based Association of Translation Companies (ATC), which simultaneously affiliates us with the European Association of Translation Companies (EUATC).
