We are ISO 17100:2015 certified and an ATC Accredited Member since 2007. Our translator network is built on ]Project Open[ records kept since 2009, not on a database of self-registered freelancers.

ISO 17100:2015 certified, ATC and EUATC Accredited Member since 2007. We work with LSPs and direct clients across technical, legal, medical and media content.
▮Our Story
Founded by Volkan Güvenç in Istanbul in 2002, Alafranga began as a Turkish technical translation office. Since then we have expanded into more than 40 languages, adopted ]Project Open[ before any other Turkish agency, built a dedicated media team, and relocated to London. The work has changed. The approach has not.
▮Founder
Volkan Güvenç founded Alafranga in Istanbul on 12 September 2002 and still directs it. He has worked in translation since 1993, beginning as a military translator at the Turkish General Staff's Central Translation Office, followed by work in banking and insurance before he founded the agency.

Alafranga is not a platform or a marketplace but a team. Every project is managed by a named coordinator. Every translator is matched by domain expertise, not availability.

Alafranga is registered in London as Alafranga Europe Ltd: UK jurisdiction, SEPA-enabled payments, closer to our European client base. Operational roots remain in Turkey, where the agency was founded in 2002. We serve clients across Europe, Turkey and the Middle East through coordinated remote workflows.
