Case study: Solplanet / AISWEI
From a Single Turkish Request to a Four-Year, 20-Language European Localisation Programme

AISWEI Technology Co., Ltd. is a Chinese clean energy company headquartered in Shanghai, founded in 2009 as SMA Group's China subsidiary. Today an independent company, AISWEI ranks among the top six PV inverter manufacturers globally, with annual production capacity exceeding 3 GW across residential, commercial, and utility-scale solar systems.

Solplanet is AISWEI's international brand — the face of AISWEI's expansion into European, Australian, and Latin American markets. Solplanet operates European offices through AISWEI B.V., headquartered in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, and serves installers, distributors, and energy companies across more than 30 countries.

▮How It Started
In early 2021, the Solplanet team in the Netherlands reached out to Alafranga Language Solutions with a single request: translate product documentation into Turkish.
Turkish was the entry point, a logical one, given Turkey's position as one of Europe's largest solar energy markets and a key distribution territory for Solplanet's inverter range.

That first project was delivered on time, with consistent terminology and structured file handling. A second request followed. Then a third, this time in multiple languages. Within months, what began as a one-language engagement had become a coordinated multilingual programme spanning Solplanet's entire European content operation.

▮Scope of Work

Over four years of continuous collaboration (January 2021 through late 2025) Alafranga delivered across five distinct content categories: 

  • Technical manuals and installation guides
    The largest category by volume. User manuals, quick installation guides, and operation documentation for Solplanet's full inverter range (including the ASW series, hybrid inverters, AI-Pro, AI-Energy, AI-Logger, Beast Pro, and Phoenix models) translated and updated across product versions and market releases. 57 projects in this category alone.

  • Software and application localisation
    End-user applications (AiSWEICloud, Smart Energy System, AI-Charging) and engineer-facing monitoring and remote control platforms, localised for European markets with UI string management, version updates, and terminology consistency across releases. 26 projects.
  • Website localisation
    Solplanet's public-facing web content localised into European languages, including product pages, landing pages, and market-specific adaptations. 26 projects.
  • Legal and compliance documents
    Warranty terms and conditions, battery quality warranty documentation, distributor agreements, grid compliance declarations, and regulatory filings, translated for individual European jurisdictions. 14 projects.



We work in SDL Trados and MemoQ, with client-specific translation memories and glossaries maintained across every project. For large-volume programmes or projects with multiple simultaneous translators, we bring in Smartcat for real-time TM synchronisation across the full team. Where AI-assisted translation is under consideration, we run feasibility and quality tests before committing to a workflow. Not every content type is a good fit for AI drafting.
