Client: Hoogendoorn Growth Management
Rotterdam based company developing software and associated products particularly for greenhouses.
Hoogendoorn’s requirements
The localization project focused on iSii compact, a user-friendly software that controls irrigation in greenhouses and open fields, while also managing greenhouse climate. The target languages were Russian, Spanish, French, Turkish, Korean, Japanese, Chinese, and Arabic. The interface content was packaged using Passolo, while the help documentation was handled through Studio. The main challenge was ensuring that farmers could easily understand every aspect of the software.
Achievement
Hoogendoorn was highly satisfied with the outcome. We have continued to provide support for ongoing updates. Additionally, we have localized numerous marketing materials into even more languages, including Dutch, English, Polish, Czech, Hungarian, Farsi, German, and Portuguese.
Key words: Greenhouse Automation, Climate Control, Crop Management, Sustainable Agriculture, Horticultural Innovation, Precision Farming, Energy Efficiency, Water Management, Data-Driven Cultivation, Smart Greenhouses, Environmental Monitoring, Greenhouse Technology, Integrated Solutions, Yield Optimization, Resource Management.
Our Solution: Our Global Operations Manager at ALS, traveled to the Rotterdam office to meet with the Hoogendoorn team and discuss the project details in person. For the iSii localization project, we carefully selected and assigned in-country localizers based on their expertise in horticulture, localization techniques, and experience with tools like Passolo and Studio. For instance, Irina from Kharkov, Ukraine, handled the Russian localization; Carolina from New Mexico, Mexico, took charge of the Spanish version; Nicolas from La Bassée, France, worked on the French translation; Umit from Ankara, Turkey, was responsible for Turkish; Lion from Seoul, South Korea, managed the Korean localization; Chenlu from Shanghai, China, handled Chinese; and Hiroko from Antalya, Turkey, managed the Japanese version. The project manager set up a Discussion Forum for the team, where the majority of the Q&A were shared among all members. Additionally, we prepared a glossary, which was reviewed and approved by Hoogendoorn.
