▮SUBJECT MATTER

• Technical Translation Machinery manuals and engineering specifications are written under constraints most content never meets: controlled terminology, numbered sections that cross-reference each other, figure callouts that must match the text beside them, and units that follow local convention. A technical translator works inside those constraints instead of rewriting around them. Alafranga has translated manuals and technical documentation since 2002, in machinery, energy, automation and electrical systems. → Technical Translation

• Legal Translation In legal text, translation has legal effect. What moves between languages is not words but doctrinal categories that shift as legislation, administrative practice and case law develop, and Turkish contract and data protection law has changed substantially since 2016. For every project Alafranga checks terminology against the version of the relevant legislation currently in force, rather than relying on a glossary compiled once. Where a document is to be filed with a Turkish court, notary or authority, we work with sworn translators in Turkey whose signature is notarised, and we follow the apostille step on request. → Legal Translation

• Medical Translation A wrong dose, a missing contraindication, a mistranslated warning: in medical content the margin for error is zero. Regulated medical documents therefore run through our HumanExpert Pro workflow, fully human, with translation and independent revision handled by two different specialists and no AI draft at any stage. Turkish medical device regulation is aligned with MDR and IVDR, but submissions go to TİTCK and terminology follows its conventions rather than the European source directly. We translate instructions for use, labelling, technical documentation, clinical study protocols, consent forms and patient information leaflets, keeping terminology consistent across studies, sites and revisions. → Medical Translation

▮CONTENT FORMAT

• Document Translation Everything that arrives as a document: editable source files, or scans and photographs that have to be rebuilt before a single word can be translated. Manuals, contracts, clinical and compliance documentation go to translators with real experience in the sector, with client-specific glossaries applied from the first segment. • Localization Websites, software, games and media content: four disciplines that fail in different ways. UI strings, SEO copy, release notes and the conventions of different stores and platforms are handled together, not separately. Turkish localization since 2002, extended to 40+ languages with vetted specialist teams. → Localization

  - Website Localization A localized site is not a translated site. Navigation labels have to fit the space they were designed for, and Turkish runs longer than English almost everywhere. Titles and meta descriptions have to be written around what people actually search for in the target market, not translated from the original, or the page reads well and ranks for nothing. Alafranga localizes marketing pages, CMS-managed content, help centres and legal pages, working inside your CMS where one exists and keeping terminology consistent across updates rather than treating every release as a new job. → Website Localization

  - Software Localization Software localization happens in resource files, not documents. Strings arrive without the sentences around them, placeholders have to survive every build, and text that fitted an English button does not fit a Turkish one: in short UI strings, 40 to 50 percent expansion is normal. Turkish adds a problem of its own. Because of the dotted and dotless i, automatic uppercase conversion produces the wrong letter when the locale is not set correctly, and that error reaches production regularly. We work in memoQ, SDL Trados or your own environment where one exists, and return files ready to build. → Software Localization

  - Game Localization Game text is written to be read fast and felt, which makes it the hardest content to translate mechanically. Character limits are tighter than in software, tone matters as much as meaning, and the same term has to hold across UI, dialogue, item descriptions and store copy through years of updates. For a game developer we localized over a million words in a four-year programme, with translators who play the genre rather than reading strings out of context. → Game Localization

  - Media Localization Subtitling is not document translation with timecodes. Every line carries a reading speed limit, a character constraint and a synchronisation requirement. Alafranga's media team handles subtitle localization for streaming services, broadcasters and corporate video. Television credits include Disney+ and Fox TV. → Media Localization

▮WORKFLOW & QUALITY MODEL

• AI-Assisted Translation SmartEdit is our controlled AI-assisted workflow: a structured AI draft reviewed by a specialist inside memoQ or SDL Trados, with your translation memory and glossary applied at every segment. There are four levels: HumanExpert and HumanExpert Pro, both fully human; SmartEdit, an AI draft with human review; and SmartEdit Pro, an AI draft with dual human review. → AI-Assisted Translation

• Quality Review For translations you already have, produced by your own team, by a machine translation system or by another agency. We check them against the source text, verify terminology consistency and return a corrected file with a structured report of the changes. This covers AI output, machine translation and human translation, in Turkish and 40+ languages. → Quality Review

• Human Translation No AI in the file. In HumanExpert, one specialist translates and checks their own work. HumanExpert Pro adds independent revision and a final quality check, following the ISO 17100 workflow. For a long time human translation was the only way to do this work. That changed faster than the industry expected, and today most of what we deliver goes through an AI draft with human review.
