Workflow Design, Platform Implementation and Custom Integration

Alafranga has been running MTPE and controlled AI-assisted workflows since 2017 — first for Amazon and Alibaba content through Jonckers, then through our own SmartEdit production system. We know what works, what fails, and where the quality gates need to be.

We now offer this experience as a consulting and implementation service — for organisations designing their first AI translation workflow, LSPs building multilingual platform infrastructure, and companies integrating translation into their documentation systems.

This service has three layers. Most clients need one. Some need all three.
The first is about decisions: which content goes to AI, which stays human, where the quality gates sit. The second is about infrastructure: the platform that makes multi-translator, multi-language programmes manageable. The third is about integration: connecting translation directly into your existing CMS, ERP, or documentation system.
You can engage any layer independently. They also work together.

LAYER 1: Workflow Design

The first question is not which AI tool to use. It is which content goes to AI, which stays with a human, and where the quality gates sit between them.

A machinery manual with safety warnings is not the same as a product description. A legal contract is not the same as a knowledge base article. The workflow that works for one will fail for the other and the failure mode in regulated content is not a style issue, it is a liability.

We design controlled AI translation workflows based on content type, risk profile, volume, and client requirements:
  • Content classification which document types are suitable for AI drafting, which require full human translation, which require AI draft with dual review
  • Quality gate design  where human review sits in the workflow, what it checks, what it approves
  • Terminology infrastructure glossary structure, TM governance, how client assets are maintained and updated
  • Prompt design how AI models are instructed to produce consistent, terminology-compliant output
  • CAT tool integration how AI drafts enter MemoQ or SDL Trados, how they are reviewed and approved
  • QA framework automated checks for placeholders, tags, numbers, terminology drift before delivery
Deliverable: a documented workflow specification your team can implement and your clients can audit.

LAYER 2: Platform Work

We integrate any platform that supports multi-translator projects, shared TM infrastructure, client portals, and vendor management. Alafranga has been running its own multilingual programmes on Smartcat. We know the platform from the inside, not from a demo.

We implement platform infrastructure for:
  • LSPs building vendor management systems,
Vendor onboarding workflows, rate management, project assignment logic, quality tracking. A structured system that replaces spreadsheet-based coordination.
  • Agencies setting up client portals
Client-facing project submission, status tracking, delivery and approval workflows. Reduces coordination overhead on both sides.
  • Multilingual programme management
Shared TM across language pairs, glossary synchronisation, team assignment by domain and language pair. The infrastructure that makes a 10-language programme manageable.
  • TM consolidation and governance
Existing TM assets migrated, cleaned, and structured. Duplicate segments resolved. Client-specific TMs separated and maintained.

LAYER 3: Custom Software Integration

Some organisations need translation embedded in their existing systems, not as a separate process but as part of the content pipeline.

We design and implement custom integrations between translation workflows and:
  • CMS platforms WordPress, Drupal, custom CMS with automated content extraction, translation routing, and reimport
  • ERP and documentation systems SAP, Oracle, custom ERP with translation triggered by document status changes, delivered back into the system
  • XLIFF pipelines structured file exchange between authoring tools and translation environments
  • API connections direct API integration between your platform and translation tools or AI models
  • Automated file routing files routed by language pair, content type, or urgency level without manual intervention
Every integration is scoped, documented, and handed over with full technical documentation — so your internal team can maintain and extend it.

How We Work
  • Discovery We review your current workflow, content types, volume, and technical environment. We identify where AI can be applied, where it cannot, and what infrastructure is needed.
  • Specification We produce a documented workflow design or integration specification to be reviewed and approved before any implementation begins.
  • Implementation Workflow built, platform configured, or integration developed depending on scope. Tested against real content before handover.
  • Handover and documentation Full documentation delivered. Your team briefed. Ongoing support available.
