Turkish Legal Translation Services
Turkish law has its own architecture. The Civil Code and the Code of Obligations derive from Swiss law, commercial law shows a strong German influence, and the system as a whole follows the civil law tradition rather than common law. Concepts that appear equivalent in English often are not: there is no direct Turkish counterpart to “consideration” or to the common law trust, and a literal rendering can change the legal effect of a clause. Turkish courts conduct proceedings exclusively in Turkish, and documents from abroad are generally accepted only as notarised translations prepared by a sworn translator.
