Indirect client: OpenAI (via New York-based LSP)

OpenAI is a U.S.-based artificial intelligence research organization founded in December 2015, developing AI systems with a focus on safety and broad benefit. Its products — including ChatGPT, the GPT API, and associated platforms — are used by tens of millions of users worldwide and localized into multiple languages for international markets.

The Brief
The engagement began with a modest volume of Turkish localization content. It developed into a continuous, increasingly complex programme covering website content, user interface strings and associated platforms — all in Turkish.

We are responsible solely for Turkish — translation and linguistic testing. The nature of the work requires more than translation competence. OpenAI's localization programme operates across multiple platforms simultaneously, with evolving style rules, detailed instructions and high communication traffic. Every team member must function as an active participant in an integrated workflow, not as an independent contractor delivering files.

Our Approach
Talent selection came first. Before any content was touched, we identified the right Turkish specialist from our premium vendor network — not by availability, but by fit. The project required someone with a documented track record in software localization and direct familiarity with AI technology terminology and product register. We do not assign AI technology content to generalists.

Glossary and style guide before translation. The first substantive work was terminology infrastructure — building a Turkish glossary of approved terms and a style guide governing register, tone, UI conventions and platform-specific rules. AI product terminology presents a specific challenge: many concepts do not have established Turkish equivalents. Every term required a deliberate decision, documented rationale, and consistent application going forward.

Website content and UI translation. Following glossary and style guide approval, we began translating OpenAI's website content and user interface materials. Meticulous attention to detail was required throughout — UI strings operate under character constraints, contextual dependencies and platform rendering considerations that do not apply to document translation.

Ongoing programme. This is not a completed project. Performance is monitored continuously. The programme evolves as OpenAI's products and platforms evolve — new features, new content types, updated style rules. Our team adapts in step.
